Five Not-So-Basic Fall Activities To Spice Things Up This Season

Fall has officially arrived.

We know what that means — people are waving bye-bye to summer margaritas, floral fragrances, and neon wardrobe pieces and welcoming their unusual obsession with pumpkins, oversized sweaters, and all things spooky with open arms.

Yawn.

Is it just me or are you also incredibly bored with the same-old autumn traditions of pumpkin patches, haunted houses, and corn mazes?

This year, let’s challenge ourselves to think outside the box and seek fun, creative ways to celebrate fall.

Spice up this season with these five not-so-basic fall activities:

  1. Have a fall-themed photoshoot: What better way to bring in this new season than by gracing your Instagram feed with aesthetically-festive photos? Whether you hire a professional or DIY with your iPhone camera, take advantage of this once-in-a-season opportunity to capture all the beauty fall has to offer.Bonus Points: Ditch the basic, fall-colored attire and try a timeless denim aesthetic instead.

  2. Go hiking: If you live for breathtaking sceneries and want front-row seats to witness color-changing leaves, glorious mountain peaks, and fall foliage views, make hiking your go-to activity this autumn. This season is the BEST time to hit the trails: the weather’s cooler and you’re able to see all that nature has to offer (and be sure to check out our recent article that outlines the best ways to keep yourself safe if you’re hiking alone).

  3. Visit a winery: One of my personal faves. Although wineries are typically branded as a “summer activity”, let’s ditch that— once and for all. If you love the idea of scenic strolls through grapevines with a glass of delicious wine in one hand, you should definitely consider heading over to a local winery this season! To make this deal even tastier: many wineries have indoor and outdoor seating so you can still enjoy gorgeous views and refreshing wine during the colder months.

  4. Go to a sunflower farm: Who doesn’t love sunflowers? This is another traditional summer activity that you can also enjoy in the fall. Sunflower mazes allow you to reconnect with nature and stare at (and buy) these bright-colored flowers. It’s typically cheap to go to one of these farms and, depending on where you’re located, farmers tend to keep these mazes open all the way until mid-October!

  5. Go to all-season-long rooftops: I’ve said it once in my last article and I’ll say it again: who said rooftops are solely reserved for warmer seasons? There are plenty of rooftops that have been optimized for an elevated all-season-long experience with their fall-themed food and drink offerings, retractable glass roofs, and cozy yet colorful aesthetic.

Cheers to making fall activities less basic! Let’s have some FUN this autumn.
