MK Hill Gives Family Love New Meaning

MK Hill Gives Family Love New Meaning

Family has always come is different shapes and sizes. Here at Sevenly, we've fallen in love with the heartwarming story of the family of MK Hill: a 27-year-old, Memphis mother of 2 to 20 children.

Yes, you heard me right. MK is the founder of Arrow’s Nest, a safe house located in Memphis that cares for foster children from all backgrounds, of all ages and ethnicities.

From a young age, MK has had a heart for foster care and adoption. Her earliest memories of her godparents adopting from China sparked a love and acceptance in her, desiring to serve all those who need a home, and the love of a family.

In her interview with The Rev, MK shared how she was prepared for this unique calling. She's been on mission trips to Guatemala over 20 times serving in the same children’s home with over 500 kids, has sponsored children, and speaks fluent Spanish in order to serve those with a language barrier.

God has placed many experiences in her path to equip her, and prepare her for every little soul that would look to her as “Mom.”

MK's desire to love and serve children from all walks of life has placed many little hearts in a beautiful home, which was donated by a man who saw MK’s heart for fostering. This home is now a refuge in their community.

It's a proverbial village to run, but MK’s open-door policy has brought the community together to love and support the children of Arrow’s Nest.

Many of MK’s days are split between doctors visits, court appearances, dropping and picking children up from school, and cooking dinner for any and all children that happen to gather in her backyard.

“People ask me all the time, ‘how do you do it?’ and applaud my sacrifice in doing so -- but I'm still trying to figure out how this is a sacrifice because I love it!” she said.

As for the name Arrow’s Nest, “each child that comes through these doors is an arrow. When they leave we make one together for them to take with them wherever they go. My prayer is that when they leave they will be like arrows of Christ light that are shot out into the world.”

"Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from Him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth. Blessed is the one whose quiver is full of them." (Psalm 127:3-5)

This world needs more people like MK Hill, and more families like Arrows Nest. No barriers, no neglect, no division. Lots of love!
