The Andrew Giving Fund Gives to Children's Sports Initiatives
This past week, The Andrew Giving Fund Committee hosted their 4th annual event, with the goal of raising $100,000 in four years to impact both their local community in Des Moines, Iowa, and their sister city of Las Charsa, Dominican Republic.
In addition to raising funds and building community, ,the event is an evening to celebrate the sweet life of Andrew, who went to heaven at the young age of 18 months. An active little boy, Andrew was usually found dribbling a ball or dancing even at his very young age. Bringing that same spirit, kindness, and generosity to a room full of people is the goal of The Andrew Giving Fund. "We feel like he knew how much time he was given and got in as much of this life as he could. Now, we are building his legacy, and we have an amazing team of family, friends - both new and old, to help us, " says Kellie Ulrich.
Moving forward, The Andrew Giving Fund hopes to provide funding and equipment for Opportunity of Deck's free sports clinic, purchase bikes for 5th grade children at a school wtih 75%-80% free and reduced lunch rates, work with teachers at the same school to provide prizes for children who participate in healthy living programs, provide new athletic shoes for those participating in youth spors, help purchase wheelchair accessible bikes for a local school, and build and maintain a baseball field in the rural area of Las Charcas, Dominican Republic, giving hundreds of youth a safe place to play.
Here at Sevenly, we are so humbled by these stories of real-life world changers, even those like Andrew, whose legacy continues to change the lives of others. We are so grateful to have been a part of this event, and can not wait to see all the good that comes from The Andrew Giving Fund. #BecausePeopleMatter
