One Simple Wish for a Strong-Willed Woman
At just 24 years old, Miriam is experiencing Kidney Failure. But, she a fighter! This isn't the first time she's experienced challenges in her life. As a toddler, Miriam was entered into foster care, along with her nine siblings, where they bounced around many placements. Despite all of this, she worked incredibly hard and pursued her dreams of graduating college. In her free time, Miriam volunteers at a foster youth nonprofit, reads novels, watches movies, and writes poetry.
Currently, Miriam is undergoing dialysis three times a week and requires constant medical attention to continue living as normal of a life as possible. She gets up at 5am, for a four-hour dialysis treatment, and then goes straight to work without rest or complaining.
Recently, Miriam found a Kidney Donor, giving her so much hope. As she's in the process of receiving approval for the transplant, she realized that medications required after the procedure would cost upwards of $8,000 a month.
Miriam described this one wish as being one that would "grant her life." Your support of this week's campaign will help Miriam with her medical bills and living expenses so she can undergo a kidney transplant and handle all of the costs associated with it. This wish means the world to Miriam and she hopes that she will have the chance to overcome this, and ultimately pursue her passion to help others in the foster care system.
We are so humbled to take part in granting Miriam's wish, and support her in becoming the incredible light to others who are going through what she previously experienced. Join us in granting Miriam's One Simple Wish #BecausePeopleMatter
