Having famous parents helps, but these "nepo babies" have proven themselves though talent and personality

It cannot be denied that having famous relatives can give someone plenty of unfair advantages regarding their career pursuits. From actors to musicians, politicians, or even business people, being born into a recognized family, or at least a rich one, can mean the success or failure of your career. We've seen the conversations around nepotism in different industries; especially arts and entertainment, pick up in the last few years; and it's not surprising, as it's evident that many opportunities are given to those who come with established connections. Even though it can be frustrating to see the unfair advantage many "nepo babies" seem to have, we can admit that there are some who are paving their own way in Hollywood and beyond, proving that they're more than a last name. Here are some nepo babies we actually stan:

1. Dan Levy:

The son of actor Eugene Levy, Dan did not only crush his role in one of the most acclaimed TV shows of the last decade (Schitt's Creek, in case you have been living under a rock). He also wrote, directed, and produced the show alongside his father. Dan's comedic style is clever and unique. With this character, and hopefully others to come, he brought visibility to queer protagonists in mainstream media.

2. Bella & Gigi Hadid:

Maybe not all of us felt this way when they started taking over major catwalks and magazine covers, but with time and experience, the Hadids, daughters of real estate magnate Mohammed Hadid and former supermodel Yolanda Hadid have become some of the best to do it. Bella, who has been an it-girl icon for years, has also been open about her human rights advocacy in Palestine. She has been one of the few models who has created a strong personal bond with her fan base by openly discussing mental health topics.

3. Tracee Ellis Ross:

Tracee entered the entertainment world as an actress in 1996 when she was 24. Before that, she had worked as a model and fashion writer while getting her degree in theater from Brown University. The daughter of Motown legend Diana Ross and Music Executive Robert Ellis Silverstein, Tracee developed her passion for art early on. Beyond her prominent roles as Joan in Girlfriends or Dr. Rainbow Johnson in Black-ish, her open and relatable personality, her commitment to an unretouched, honestly raw beauty, and her humor are some of the things that make her a beloved cultural icon.

4. Jaden Smith:

Jaden has proven to have the talent and the ambition to be out of his parents' shadow. Although he became widely known for his childhood roles in The Pursuit of Happiness, The Karate Kid remake, and After Earth, he's continued to show his versatility as a musician, philanthropist, and entrepreneur. Just Water, the water company he's a partner in, bases its mission on developing and funding water filtration technologies and expanding their access worldwide. His push for increased visibility of issues like this has helped him differentiate himself and build his reputation.

5. Miley Cyrus:

Miley has had her ups and downs as a celebrity, facing scrutiny and fame from an early age as a Disney Channel child star and the daughter of famous singer Billy Ray Cyrus. Even with some significant controversies that include cultural appropriation and drug use, Miley has stayed relevant her entire career, continuously dropping anthems that most end up memorizing, whether they like it or not. Miley's commitment to the LGBT community and open and honest communication style has made her an icon.
