#UNSPONSORED: Thrive Causemetics Liquid Lash Extensions™ Mascara

We are not getting paid by Thrive for this RAVE review, which is kind of insane...

Naturally, my lashes are unimpressive.

They’re short, mostly straight, and light in color despite my natural black hair. I’m one of those girls who would see some of her male peers in high school and ask the universe why they were granted the luscious lashes I so desired. With nothing much to work with, I began my search for the mascara that would give me the volume and definition I craved.

It has taken me the better part of a decade to find a mascara that didn’t completely wrong me. What do I mean by that? Well, it seems that mascara can be one of the most disrespectful forms of makeup. She can burn and sting if you’re sweaty (which I am) or run and stain if you cry a lot (which I do), and GOD FORBID you get some on your nose mid-application. With some formulas, your attempt to correct that fatal mistake will result in the removal of your foundation and (probably) the destruction of your sanity.

Thankfully, what I lack in lash I make up for in makeup artistry, and therefore I’m able to trick the masses into thinking my lashes are voluminous and plentiful– but I’ve gone through around 30 brands to find my current (and likely permanent) staple.

I was first introduced to the Thrive Causemetics Liquid Lash Extensions™ Mascara through my IPSY subscription. If you’re not familiar with IPSY, it’s a subscription service that delivers a batch of makeup products to your door every month based on a profile you create when you join. They deliver a wide range of products, from whole palettes to foundation samples and everything in between. About a year or two ago I was sent this mascara from Thrive and, having never heard of the brand prior, didn’t have the highest hopes for its performance. Fast forward to now, I wouldn’t be caught dead using another.

This mascara does something that others don’t: it wipes away leaving ZERO marks on your face. You may be thinking, “well, sure! It must be a waterproof mascara.”

Wrong again!

It comes off just as easily as it goes on with their Flake-Free Tubing Technology™.

This is what they say on their website:

Powered by Flake-Free Tubing Technology™ to dramatically lengthen each lash from root to tip. Orchid Stem Cell Complex™ supports longer, healthier-looking lashes.

Dermatologist ophthalmologist tested and approved! Clinically proven to be gentle enough for sensitive eyes and safe for contact lens wearers.

Removing mascara is effortless! Our innovative firm-hold tubing formula slides right off with warm water and a washcloth—no soap or eye makeup remover required.

Before Thrive, taking off my makeup would be dreadful, as I would use wipe after wipe, washcloth after scalding hot washcloth to get the entirety of the mascara residue off of my skin every night. With this mascara, it doesn’t matter if I’m at a funeral or the beach– it quite literally never makes a mess. Instead, it slides off your lashes in tubes and can be blotted or flicked away. It’s pretty much a miracle. I buy two or three tubes a year in January and I’m confident knowing that my mascara situation is completely figured out regardless of where I’m headed to.

If you're not completely convinced already, you should know that this brand is really on a mission.

The “Cause” in Causemetics refers to their ongoing philanthropic efforts that benefit Black Women’s Health Imperative, The National Breast Cancer Foundation, and many more with every single purchase. You can read Thrive's annual Bigger Than Beauty™ report here.
