LVMH x Cartier: Are We Here for It?

Super-mega-humongous-behemoth luxury conglomerate Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy has its eyes on a new brand to add to its impressive roster.

Rumor has it that Cartier is next to join Hermes, Tiffany & Co., Christian Dior, Fendi, Givenchy, Marc Jacobs, Stella McCartney, Loewe, Kenzo, Celine, Sephora, Princess Yachts, TAG Heuer, Loro Piana and Bulgari.

What could this mean for the brand? Probably the LVMH starter kit — a big name creative director, influx of ambassadors and influencers, carefully orchestrated pop song name drop, and a headline-grabbing collaboration, of course.

This acquisition comes at an interesting time for Cartier since TikTok had called out the brand for no longer authenticating its uber popular Love bracelets; a sure fire sign that the knock-offs are getting more and more refined, which could ultimately make the style lose favor over time. (Think of the Chanel Cambon, Yeezy 350 “Turtledove” or Supreme x LV anything where the fakes almost dilute the originals.)

Are we excited to see Cartier thrive under the LVMH umbrella or should the brand keep things as is?
