While many of today's sneaker girls were navigating their American Apparel phase, wannabe Avril Lavigne era, Steve Madden ballet-flat saga, Teyana Taylor had already cemented herself as a tomboy for the masses. A sneaker-wearing Harlem native with ties to the biggest names in music and a style that's still being replicated.

Teyana's signature style may have had its inflections but it has never wavered. She's always been a sneaker girl, something that absolutely cannot be said for many of the female sneaker collaborators of today. Her style and charisma made her a natural partner for footwear brands and her 2013 adidas collaboration proved that she had real influence. The design was forward-thinking but sporty and by all accounts it was only the beginning of her expansion into fashion.

Unfortunately, the partnership was ultimately shelved due to some petty drama you can read about here, but that doesn't take away Teyana's merits as a veritable and deserving collaborator. Now, a whopping ten years later, Teyana is back with another footwear partnership, this time with Jordan Brand. (And let's not forget, 10 years of relevancy is nothing to sneer at.)

Teyana's take on the Jordan 1 leans into the "A Rose in Harlem" tag line that's been woven throughout her musical creative output. A red Swoosh with thorns serves as the obvious call out to the inspiration with a floral lace lock adding a little bit of extraness to the forefoot. Formula 23 foam makes the sneaker more walkable than the average AJ1, which is a nice added bonus.

No release date has been announced, but Teyana if you're reading this, we're cheering you on!
