The 2 Trends Set to Dominate Summer '23

It's official, we're all dressing like we're in a boy band.

Remember back to school shopping? When your parents took you to a department store and you grabbed what was presumably enough new clothes to get you through the school year?

Let’s bring that back. Instead of shopping our brains out in perpetuity or feeling compelled to get a new tidbit for every occasion, lets build out a summer wardrobe thoughtfully.

We're getting organized here people. We're auditing our closet and separating the needs from the wants.

And speaking of wants... here’s a rundown of Summer 2023 trends and where to shop ‘em. (Full disclosure: this is for the streetwear lovers specifically, if you’re more of a feminine, frilly, girl-next-door type, I apologize in advance.)

Football jerseys

The best place to shop this trend is via a thrift store, Depop, eBay, or even at a local sporting goods store. Look for vibrant color combinations or unusual team names to keep the vibes lighthearted. A word of caution though — if you opt for an official jersey, be sure to Google any player before buying. I do this every time to ensure I’m not aligning with some scum bag.

Jorts. Yep, Jorts.

While last summer’s shorts were incredibly short, this year’s length is a return to the below-the-knee hemline of the early aughts. All washes are in from bleached to indigo, but I recommend playing it safe with a mid wash to style over and over again without a second thought.

My Final Thoughts

No one should feel compelled to buy into a trend just because its popular. At the end of the day, looking good is a direct reflection of feeling good. It is; however, fun to experiment with silhouettes and styles so feel free to tap in with the above or not. I suggest starting at the thrift store for a cheap thrill with little investment.

Whatever you do, just enjoy the summer and wear ya damn sunscreen.
