For most traveling solo is not for the faint at hard. Most women are either born to travel alone or forced to because your girls canceled and the ticket was paid for or that yearning to check off a must-see destination on your bucket list couldn't wait any longer. “We are supposed to wake up every day and be great.” Says Adventure Traveler Tanyka Renee. “There is so much abundance in the world and I love that women particularly Black women are going out there and facing our fears, doing what we were meant to do in particular traveling solo. Because this world is a beautiful place, we are supposed to see the world and enjoy every part of it.” Traveling solo is one thing but keep in mind that in between the adventure, newness, and excitement, when you do choose to do it alone, Safety should always come first. “You know when I travel, I've been very blessed, I’ve run into a few issues but not that much I do believe in energy,” says Renee. “I do believe that when you go to a foreign country, you should lead with love, be open to other cultures and do your research. I believe that energy is protectant energy.

Take a look at Tanyka’s Top 5 Rules when your traveling alone.

  1. lead with love be open to other cultures do your research

  2. Share Your location with friends and loved ones. “if you have an i Phone you can also share it on google maps if you don't have an iPhone I update my family constantly and let them know what I’m doing

  3. Share the other person's contact information “If I meet someone and we hang out I share that person’s contact information and I’ll say hey do you mind, I want to share your contact information with my family or I might share their social media profiles just so they know the last person that I was with.

  4. Stay Sober and be aware. I don't go out at night and I don't drink, I do drink, but when I’m traveling I do not drink at night by myself I'm very aware when I place my glasses down when I meet new people

  5. Never ever tell anyone that you are traveling alone. “I never tell anyone that I am traveling alone. I tell them that I decided to leave my friends at the hotel that they're waiting for me. And when checking into hotels I often tell them that my husband is joining me. There is human trafficking going on there is a lot of human trafficking so if someone wants to kidnap me I want to make it hard for them. So I always send out signals to let them know I am not really alone.
